What pissed the Mrs. Average Bride off today

8/13/12

Have you ever had a moment where this situation that seems so small, just makes you REALLY upset at the moment? Also, a couple hours later you're just thinking about ways you could've approached it better?  Well today I had that moment.

Most of my friends and colleagues typically would say that I'm abnormally calm in chaos, patient, and I rarely get angry.  Some of my friends even told me that they don't want to see me get angry because they just don't know what to expect.  I'm the type of person that's not confrontational nor makes a complaint about things.  I just let it go and don't let it bother me.  Today was not so the case...

How it All Started:
I decided to go to the gym later then usual to take a Spin course (stationary biking workout class for an hour).  Since someone told me in the past that this class gets full quickly, I went there 20 minutes early to get a spot.  I've taken Spin class at many other places on and off for 3 years, but today was my first time at the gym I've been going to.  When I got to the gym, I asked the employee what was the system for getting a bike.  He told me the way to "reserve" a bike was that you had to be physically sitting on the bike to reserve it.  I get to the class 15 minutes early and I see towels on every bike.  I thought hey that's nice, they put towels for you already.  As I looked around to get a bike, I realized some people left the water bottles on the stationary bikes to reserve the spot.  I thought whatever, people do that all the time at other places to reserve their spot.  So I look for one that doesn't have a water bottle and finally get a perfect spot next to a giant fan.   I fix my bike to the height that is perfect for my petite body and start warming up.

The Idiot that Made me Furious:
Right when the class is about to start (15 minutes after I got on the bike), some ding dong tells me "Hey, that's my bike."  I'm looking at him just in utter confusion because I've been on that **$* bike for 15 minutes waiting for the class to start so no one mistakenly takes the bike!  He later on justifies himself that he "reserved" that bike by placing his towel on the bike.  Well buddy, there was #$*& towel on EVERY bike when I got there 15 minutes ago!   He kept asking me to "please get off the bike"...nicely.  So the asian in me told me to compliantly do whatever he asked to avoid confrontation even though I was really furious.  I ended up doing the boring elliptical for 30 minutes in an 100 degree exercise room.  At least the time went by as I was thinking of ways to yell at him and complain to the staff.  Well, I didn't yell at him, but I did end up complaining to an employee.  Thankfully the employee there was really understanding and told me they would do something.  I don't know what "doing something" means, but at least I got it off my shoulders...in a passive agressive way.

Have you had a small situation like that just made you really annoyed and upset?

How would you have handled that situation?
